Pu’erh tea is named for the town in China’s southern Yunnan province - where trading in that tea has taken place for literally hundreds of years. Known as “black tea” in China, pu’erh was available exclusively within that country’s borders for centuries, and only recently has gained popularity worldwide. Pu’erh tea is made from a large-leaf variety of the Camellia sinensis plant. After processing, some leaves are left loose, but most are compressed into cakes and other forms; all tea is then aged under special conditions, up to 50 years or more. This aging results in lower astringency and bitterness - and a smoother, sweeter cup. Pu’erh has gained much notoriety due to its purported health benefits, including lowering cholesterol, aiding in weight loss and digestion, and as a natural detoxifier. Whatever the benefits may be, we just simply love the earthy, robust flavor -whether hot or iced. 100% Certified Organic.

Steeping Instructions: Pour 6 oz. heated water (208-212˚F) over 1 teaspoon tea leaves and steep 3-5 minutes. Remove leaves and enjoy. Re-steep as desired.
