Tea, it’s so much more than just a daily refresher! What else can you create with our loose leaf teas? (simple syrup, sangria, infused booze, etc.)

A hot summer day in Utah isn’t complete without a refreshing drink and Tea Zaanti has countless ideas to help you stay hydrated and cool this time of year; all with the helping hand of tea! Your head may go to the pre-brewed iced teas we have all summer but we aren’t just talking about sipping teas, the variety of loose leaves we carry can elevate any drink your taste buds are craving. From your favorite sun bathing chair in your backyard to our sun awakened patio, we have you covered.

Think of your most memorable lemonade, the first sip of that refreshing cocktail you always make, a delicious sangria in your hands, an iced latte in the morning; now imagine taking it up a notch with a simple syrup made from our hibiscus punch or infuse your favorite liquor with our black currant to make your favorite sip even better.

Simple syrup:

Let’s talk about how to make our aromatic teas into a simple syrup!  First come into our shop and choose a tea for your flavor palate, we are happy to help you with some ideas to take your beverage up a notch. Once you've chosen the tea for you there are just a few easy steps to create a delicious syrup:

  1. Bring one cup of water and one cup of sugar to a boil. Stir until syrup is dissolved.

  2. Add 2 Tablespoons of tea to the syrup mixture and let steep for 5 minutes. If choosing a green tea, let the water cool to 175 degrees before adding the green tea leaves.

  3. Strain the leaves and let cool.

  4. Transfer to your favorite jar or bottle. You are now ready to upgrade your everyday drinks!

The variety of teas we have allow countless opportunities to explore different flavors. Maybe you need that coffee to wake up in the morning and you are not a huge tea fan? Create a syrup from our vanilla bean tea to add to mix up your morning cup of jo. Or make a latte by making syrup from our cinnamon toast black tea. We carry loose lavender flowers that would be a great addition to any morning coffee drink and add a little bit of relaxation to your caffeine needs.

If you choose to make a lavender syrup for your coffee, save some to add to your refreshing lemonade. Staff members at Tea Zaanti have tried this combination and agree it is a must try for the dry heat of the summertime. Adding another flavor to your lemonade such as our mango ceylon will uplift the classic sunny day refresher. There are unlimited options of fruity and herbal to choose from at our shop.

Sitting on the porch after a long day of work and ready to relax? These syrups will add a punch of flavor to your favorite cocktail. Take that hibiscus punch tea  syrup and add it to a moscow mule, toning down the ginger and adding a tang to your first sip. Or elevate an espresso martini by adding in the rich, heavenly flavor of our raspberry truffle. You can become your own bartender with the help of tea!

Infusing booze:

Sure simple syrups can be added to cocktails, but have you ever thought of infusing your go-to liquor with your favorite tea? It is easier than making a syrup, just combine tea with the alcohol of your choosing and patiently wait until that liquor is ready to adventure into an elevated cocktail making experience. Planning for a party and need to make mojitos? Use our mintz tea to add to your favorite white rum. For the 24 hour method there is just two steps:

  1. Add 1 tablespoon of dry tea to 2 cups of alcohol.

  2. Wait 24 hours then strain (for green tea only soak for one hour).

Perhaps you get out of work early and have the craving for a gin and tonic but not in the mood for the classic combo, why not take our black currant and add it to your gin and have the infusion done in only 20 minutes!

  1. Add 6 tablespoons of dry tea to 2 cups of alcohol.

  2. Wait 20 minutes then strain!

We are happy to help you with ideas for infusions and other ways to use our teas in your own home, just come in and ask the staff. We can help you create something delicious!

Sangria:

At Tea Zaanti we are committed to providing a relaxing environment made for you to enjoy your surroundings. Whether this be sitting on the patio with a group of friends enjoying a charcuterie board and a bottle of wine, sitting in the matcha room drinking a tea that helps you focus on your studies, or reading a book in the sunshine with one of our many iced drinks in hand. We are always looking for new opportuni-teas to add tea to your life and Spain has just the summertime idea for us - Sangria.

Sangria is a Spanish drink combination classically made with red wine, lemonade, spices, and fruit. At Tea Zaanti we have the ingredients for you to create your own sangria. Select any fruity tea we have and ask for it as an arnold palmer. Now choose a glass or bottle of wine to pair it with. We will try to transport your summer from Salt Lake to Spain with this refreshing take on the beloved Spanish drink.

You can make your own sangria at home too, bring one of our teas (maybe berry berry tart!) home and make an iced tea to add to your own recipe.

Tea is not just for your daily refresher! Here at Tea Zaanti we want to help our communi-tea explore the various wonders of tea and how you can incorporate the wonderful flavors they provide in your everyday life.
