Roasted green tea with a sweet, toasty smell and a light nutty caramel flavor.

This tea was ‘invented’ in 1920 by a Japanese merchant wishing to extend the usefulness of some surplus green tea leaves. Japanese bancha is roasted, giving this green tea a less astringent, nutty, caramel-like flavor in a cup of rich amber liquor. Think you don’t like green tea? Steeping Instructions: Pour 6 oz. heated water (170-180˚F) over 1 teaspoon tea leaves and steep 2 minutes. Remove leaves and enjoy. Re-steep as desired.
